A collection of Owl crafts

The Owl is mentioned 17 times in the Old Testament, with the verse from Isaiah 34:15 being a good example.

“The owl will nest there and lay eggs, she will hatch them, and care for her young under the shadow of her wings; there also the falcons will gather, each with its mate.”

I’ve found a site with a collection of owl crafts from around the web.  There are crafts for children, teens and adults.  You’ll find the instructions here or follow the picture link.

Also here are the other Scripture references.

DIY Leather sandals

This is a cute craft from Dollar Store crafts blog and found here.  Surprisingly the term appears twenty-five times in Scripture.  This would be a good craft for older teens and adults and requires some leather scraps, a pair of thongs (flip-flops), and some strong glue.

Matthew 3:11

I baptize you with water for repentance. But after me comes one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

Exodus 3:5

Do not come any closer,” God said. “Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.

Christmas story reminders

I found this beautiful idea on pinterest.

It comes from the following website:  http://www.trusper.com/tips/Kids-Christmas-Party-Ideas/7120444

And is a wonderful way to help kids remember the Christmas story.

All you need are red and or green “M&M” brand lollies, bags you can seal (zip-loc or staple them shut) and the poem reproduced.

Here’s the photo and poem which goes along with it.  I’ve made it large so you can see the words of the poem.

Matthew Chapter One and Luke Chapters One and Two relate the story of the birth of Jesus.

Letter Mosaics “J” for Jesus

This one is a very simple craft for younger children but it can also be adapted to suit teens

Draw the letter ‘J’ in large bubble writing on a piece of card, and have the children paste coloured pieces of paper inside the lines, making a mosaic craft.  This “J’ could help them remember a bible teaching about Jesus.

Use bubble writing to make a word “Jesus” or phrase “Jesus died for me”

For older children:

Instead of paper on card, use the same technique with mosaic tile pieces (old tile, crockery, glass) on pieces of wood or strong board.

Flower Craft

rose-broach“The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever.”   These lovely and simply made flower crafts will help children and teens to remember this verse from Isaiah 40:8

Follow the links to go to the instructions.

They could also be used to illustrate the Creation story in Genesis Chapter One, Psalm 37:20 and Matthew 6:28

Woven Desk Caddy

You might have to use your imagination here, but I thought this might be a useful reminder for the story of Joseph in Genesis Chapter 40 and onward.  I was thinking of the part in the story where Joseph hid a silver cup in his brother’s luggage.  Using grey or silver wool instead of the multicolour,  you could use this to remind the children of the story.  Follow this link here to find the instructions or click on the picture above.
